Dump truck slams into famed Whisky a Go Go in West Hollywood

A dump truck crashed into the famed Whisky a Go Go music club on the Sunset Strip in West Hollywood Friday afternoon.

The accident was reported around 1:45 p.m. on the 8900 block of Sunset Avenue.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department says a work crew was adding dirt to the dump truck when the brakes failed, causing it to roll into the building and take out a 50-foot power pole in the process.

“I was on the phone and I heard a huge crash and then my phone line went out," said Mike Sheer, who was inside the music club. "We were just thanking God that everybody was safe inside and that nobody was inside their cars or anything like that."

Earlier today, the Boy Hits Cars band management team released a statement announcing a new location for the show scheduled tonight, but a message posted on the group's social media page this evening announced its cancellation.

"Everyone is ok, but the show at @thewhiskyagogo tonight is cancelled."
